Form is one of the seven elements of visual art that determines how an artist represents the physical appearance of an art piece through its materials, style, and composition. Two dimensional art, such as painting, requires that the artist create an illusion of form through the use of contour, shading, color and illusion. Form can also refer to a geometric form, e.g., cube, circle, rectangle, etc.
