The Pinacoteca Vaticana is the Vatican Museums’ art gallery. It displays paintings from the extensive collection amassed by the Catholic Church and individual donors over the centuries. The gallery’s total collection includes some 70,000 paintings, of which about 500 are on display. The Pinacoteca Vaticana opened in 1932.
