The Assembly of Revolutionary Artists of Oaxaca (ASARO) is a collective of artists dedicated to the defense of public spaces and the promotion of urban art. The organization was founded in 2014 by a group of local activists who sought to give voice to marginalized communities through art. Since then, ASARO has developed numerous projects in various formats (murals, graffiti, photography, etc.), utilizing public spaces as canvases to share its message of social and political transformation.

ASARO’s projects have a wide reach, having been exhibited in museums, galleries, and festivals worldwide. It has also collaborated with numerous organizations, such as Amnesty International, Greenpeace Mexico, and the Oaxacan Human Rights Commission. Through these collaborations, ASARO has sought to raise awareness of human rights issues and foster dialogue within the community.

ASARO has been praised for its remarkable ability to bridge the gap between art, politics, and grassroots activism. Through its projects, it seeks to challenge traditional forms of expression and create new ways of engaging with stories of struggle and resistance. Its work continues to inspire and empower numerous communities worldwide, promoting a culture of solidarity and social justice.

By using public spaces as canvases, ASARO strives to foster a more inclusive society with its creative vision. Its projects have been recognized as catalysts for social change and beacons of hope in times of crisis. As such, they continue to demonstrate the power of art in creating positive and lasting impacts on society.
