The Cubist Room (1911-12) by Georges Braque is an early example of Analytic Cubism, a style of painting that Braque developed jointly with Pablo Picasso. This painting demonstrates the technique of papier collé, or paper collage, which Braque invented in 1912. In the Cubist Room, everyday objects such as newspapers and musical instruments are fragmented into geometric forms and then reassembled into a new whole.
